Our Story
My wife and I were married here on the Island in October 2022, near the lighthouse beach in this photo, and we're so pleased we chose to host our wedding ceremony and reception on PEI. Prince Edward Island really is one of the prettiest spots in the country... some might say the world!
One thing we found challenging when preparing for our wedding was finding a marriage commissioner who was responsive and available to meet virtually as well as in-person. While I was working full time here on PEI at the time, my partner is a pilot based out of Toronto, and we often spend time in different provinces (and indeed, different parts of the world). So it was important to us that the person who would be marrying us be available to meet for planning at a time that worked for both our schedules, using platforms that could easily facilitate meeting virtually.
To complicate matters further, Hurricane Fiona hit exactly two weeks before our wedding date, wiping out our intended wedding venue and throwing a real monkey wrench into our already-complex plans!
Fortunately, we ended up with a wonderful, local marriage commissioner who did a fabulous and flexible job of providing warm, calm, clear guidance throughout our ceremony in the wake of weather-related changes, and we will always be grateful for the role he played in our special day. I definitely see our own marriage commissioner as a role model and an inspiration for my decision to become a PEI marriage commissioner myself.
Regardless of who you love, where on the island you want to get married, or how you want to prepare for your big day, I'd love to be considered for a role in it! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. I would be happy to offer a free initial meeting (zoom or phone call) to see if we're a good fit, and have a preliminary chat about what you have in mind for your wedding!
